New Winter Storm Warnings Issued for 8 States as 10 Inches of Snow Approaches
Just a week after suffering through a record-setting blizzard only to be teased with spring temperatures for 48 hours, the Northeast is once again preparing for more snow.
This time around, though, the accumulations won't be anything like last weekend when most states in the Northeast received at least 20 inches of snow, while Providence, RI led the way with a record-setting 37.9 inches of snow.
"As a warm front attempts to reorganize itself on Tuesday, it is expected to push wintry precipitation north into the parts of the Northeast beginning Tuesday morning. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect through the rest of the day today, until Tuesday morning for much of the Mid-Atlantic, with more taking effect on Tuesday for parts of the Northeast," the National Weather Service said.

8 States Expected to Receive up to 10 Inches of Snow
As the storm spreads east, the National Weather Service issued new winter storm warnings for five states over the next 36 hours.
Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Vermont and Wyoming are all under winter weather warnings for Monday night into Tuesday morning and beyond as snow and ice accumulations create dangerous travel conditions for the nightly and morning commutes.
Upstate New York, which dealt with heavy lake effect snow for much of the winter, will see up to two inches of snow and ice accumulation – similar to what will be seen in the Pittsburgh suburbs on Monday night into Tuesday.
While the Northeast deals with more snow and ice, Wyoming is set to receive the heaviest snowfall of any of the states listed in the new winter weather warnings from the National Weather Service. More than 10 inches of snow is possible in the Sierra Madre Mountain range while other cities are expecting to see up to eight inches of snowfall in lower elevations.
Right there with Wyoming is Oregon, which will receive up to 10 inches of snow along the Cascades on Monday night.
Warmer Weather in the Forecast
While much of the Northeast will be dealing with snow accumulations once again, warmer weather is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service, as the Southwest deals with record heat.
"The western portion of the Southern Plains and parts of the Southwest will be particularly warm today and Tuesday, with record high daily temperatures possible, especially on Tuesday," the NWS said. "Further east, after the passage of the ongoing wintry precipitation event, a significant warm-up is expected to begin midweek and continue late through the week and into the weekend."
States in the southern Mid-Atlantic could even see temperatures surpass 80 degrees.
