The family of an IT student fatally stabbed just yards from his front door said he ‘will forever be remembered’ as a man was charged with his murder.

Suleyman Nur, 25, died in hospital two weeks after he was knifed repeatedly in Alvanley Gardens, near Hampstead cricket club on January 29.

His life support machines were switched off on Monday, February 9.

Dylan Gan, 21, from Camden, has been charged with murder after the attack.

Mr Nur’s brother told the Metro that Suleyman, an IT student and huge Arsenal fan, had a bright future ahead of him.

His brother said: ‘We are shocked and confused at how this could have happened.

‘Suleyman loved football, he was a big Arsenal fan. He was bright and studied hard and had a bright future ahead.

‘He was very close to his family we are all devastated. We have no idea how he came to be stabbed that day. We obviously want answers and a full investigation.’

Suleyman’s family are being supported by specialist police officers.

Mr Nur’s grieving family said in a statement issued by the Met:  ‘Suleyman was loved by everyone around him, he was incredibly social and eager to lend a helping hand.

‘He will forever be remembered.’

Police collected CCTV and doorbell footage from the neighbourhood, which is a tree-lined street with house prices in excess of £3m.

Gan was originally charged on Sunday, 1 February with attempted murder while Suleyman was still receiving medical treatment in hospital.

Following his death on February 6, the charge has been upgraded to murder.

Gan is due to appear at the Old Bailey charged today (Monday) charged with murder.

He previously appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the case.

He was also charged with possession of a class B drug.
