Scoring goals in the remaining games

0
Hopefully we wont have a problem knocking in goals now that the recent run of tough games is out of the way.

Seeing DCL miss a gilt edged chance yesterday - which ultimately changed the course of the game- made me think about the fact that he seems to have gone off the boil a bit recently. It's one goal from him now in his last 7 appearances, most of which were starts. 2 goals in his last 10 appearances. It's a bit Bamfordesque in terms of him looking like a "streaky striker. " A flurry of goals, and then a bit of a goal drought.

We've scored 8 goals now in our last 7 PL games, which included 4 home games. And 5 of those 7 goals came from just the Forest and Chelsea games. Obviously, early in the season one of the greatest concerns was where the goals were going to come from. Then DCL started his scoring run, and other players chipped in as well.

Aaronson meanwhile, after that brief purple patch before Christmas hasn't scored in his last 8 appearances - he last scored against Newcastle on 7th January. Two of his 4 goals in 27 appearances were in the Newcastle game. So 2 goals in the other 26 appearances.

Our midfield doesn't contribute much in terms of goals - mainly Stach's 4 goals and 3 assists in 21 appearances. Gruev zero goals and 3 assists in 19 appearances ( 2 of them in one game ) Ampadu one goal and one assist. Stach is our stand out midfield player in every respect.

Nmecha generally only comes on late, and our wingers have contributed very little in terms of goals. Okafor is injured, and James may well end up together with Piroe with zero goals this season. Gnonto hardly gets any game time for some reason.

Our FBs/ wing backs contribute little in terms of goals or assists - just the odd goal from Bogle. Gudmundsson hasn't scored a goal this season, nor any assists. Bogle has 2 goals and 2 assists this season.

As regards our CBs, Rodon has 2 goals, and Bijol 1 goal. Struijk has zero goals and just one assist in 23 starts. Rodon and Bijol both have 2 assists. Justin has one goal and one assist in PL games.

So I am starting to get a bit nervous again about where the goals are going to come from in the run in. We depended heavily on that DCL scoring streak straight after the City away game. And we didn't manage to score in both the recent home games against Arsenal and City, despite ER generally having been a fortress and the source of most of our points this season.

Those late concessions away to Newcastle and Villa look a lot more expensive to me now after two recent home defeats.
