When Executive authority expands, judiciary’s role becomes critical: Abhishek Manu Singhvi
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Chief Guest at the ‘Justice Unplugged: Shaping the Future of Law’, a conclave organised by the Vellore Institute of Technology School of Law in association with The Hindu, highlighted the historic instances when courts applied Constitutional jurisprudence to protect the cherished rights of the common man from arbitrary excesses of the state.
Mr. Singhvi said “law is ultimately about people”. “Behind every constitutional principle stands a human story: a prisoner seeking bail, a worker seeking wages, a woman seeking equality, a citizen seeking justice,” he said.
