Supreme Court: NCLT needn’t probe debt default at plea stage

The Supreme Court has clarified insolvency proceedings. The National Company Law Tribunal only needs to confirm a debt default to admit a case. It does not need to examine if the company can pay. This ruling upholds the admission of Hiranmaye Energy into insolvency. REC's plea was accepted for ₹218 crore dues.
