US to move aircraft carrier to Middle East from Caribbean, officials say

The Pentagon is sending the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford from the Caribbean to the Middle East, joining the USS Abraham Lincoln and other U.S. military assets as tensions with Iran rise, U.S. officials told Reuters. The carrier, which can carry more than 75 aircraft and has been deployed since June 2025, will take about a week to reach the region, adding to an extended U.S. military presence while Washington weighs a possible deal with Iran.
