The French bloke they recruited in the summer is getting the credit for this seasons signings and performances, maybe Sunderland just felt he had outlived his usefulness.

Yes, I was just reading one of the local media articles on it and they seem to think it was always the intention that they'd move on from Speakman once they felt safe and the new guy was settled in. Though obviously that could just be the club's spin on it.
