Two wounded in Oakland drive-by shooting
OAKLAND — Two men riding in a car in East Oakland early Tuesday were wounded in a drive-by shooting, authorities said.
Both men, one 21 and the other 33, were in stable condition at a hospital.
The shooting happened about 1:55 a.m. Tuesday in the 5800 block of Avenal Avenue.
According to initial police reports, the two men, and another passenger, were driving in a car when a van pulled alongside them and someone inside began shooting at them before continuing on.
The 21 year-old man was hit in the back and the other man in the arm. The third man was not injured. It was not clear which one was driving.
They drove to another location and called the police.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. Detailed descriptions of the shooter and the van have not been released.
