Mike Macdonald Gives Massive Super Bowl LX Injury Update On Seahawks Star Rookie
It looks like Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Nick Emmanwori will be good to go for the team’s Super Bowl LX matchup vs. the New England Patriots.
The second-round pick suffered an ankle injury during practice on Wednesday.
“Seahawks jack of all trades Nick Emmanwori just said he’s confident he’ll play on Sunday. Low ankle sprain — avoided a major injury,” ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes posted on Bluesky.
“Nick Emmanwori has a low-ankle sprain, Mike Macdonald says. He is expected to play in the Super Bowl. ‘He’s doing great, moving around.’ Emmanwori will participate in the walkthrough today. Practice status is TBD. They’ll monitor it thru the weekend but expectation is he plays,” Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic wrote on X. “Mike Macdonald on Nick Emmanwori: ‘Not sure how extensive, if at all, he’s going to practice. But he’s confident. Got a great plan. Fully expect him to play. He’s doing great and moving around. Just gotta make sure we handle it the right way. Probably going to be over-careful and overcautious to make sure we’re rolling going into the weekend.'”
Though Emmanwori appears to be trending in the right direction, his status will be worth monitoring over the next 72 hours.
The South Carolina product is a huge part of Seattle’s secondary, finishing the regular season second on the team in passes defended (11), third in tackles (81) and tied for third in tackles for loss (nine).
Emmanwori also recorded four quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks and one interception across 14 regular season contests.
The 21-year-old played a big role in the Seahawks’ NFC Championship Game victory over the Los Angeles Rams, posting a game-high three passes defended.
