Iran military chief issues stark warning to US as talks loom

Iran’s military chief warned the United States of swift retaliation as reports indicate possible renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran soon.

Iran’s armed forces chief Abdolrahim Mousavi said the country is fully prepared to respond to any US action, promising a rapid and decisive reaction.

His remarks came as Iran’sTasnim news agency reported possible upcoming negotiations between senior Iranian and American officials in the coming days.

According to the report, the talks could involve Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, although details remain unclear.

US President Donald Trump earlier confirmed talks with Tehran while also signaling military pressure, saying a large US naval presence is being deployed to the region.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary reported progress in ongoing diplomatic contacts, even as Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that any attack could trigger regional conflict.

Relations between Iran and the United States have remained tense for years over nuclear issues, regional influence, sanctions, and security disputes across the Middle East.
