Pakistan Says 145 BLA Militants Killed After Deadly Balochistan Attacks
Pakistan says 145 BLA militants were killed after coordinated attacks in Balochistan, with security forces reporting military and civilian casualties nationwide recently.
Pakistan authorities said 145 fighters of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) were killed following large-scale security operations after coordinated attacks across Balochistan.
According to officials cited by Al Jazeera, the violence also killed 17 security personnel and 31 civilians during clashes and militant assaults learned over two days.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said security forces recovered the bodies of the militants, adding that some attackers were allegedly Afghan nationals.
Bugti further accused Taliban authorities of allowing BLA leaders to operate from Afghanistan territory, an allegation Kabul has repeatedly rejected.
Pakistan also accused India of supporting the separatist group, a claim denied by New Delhi amid continuing regional tensions.
The BLA recently carried out coordinated bombings and armed attacks across several cities in Balochistan, targeting security installations and government facilities in one of the most intense waves of violence in recent years.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has faced a long-running insurgency led by separatist groups demanding greater control over local resources and autonomy.
Authorities say security operations continue across the province to stabilize the region, while analysts warn that lasting peace will require both improved security measures and political-economic solutions addressing local grievances.
