Israeli Military Confirms Around 70,000 Palestinian Deaths in Gaza Conflict

Israeli senior military officials acknowledge that roughly 70,000 Palestinians have died in the Gaza conflict, with most victims women and children.

Israeli senior military officials have confirmed that approximately 70,000 Palestinians were killed during the Gaza war, Israeli media reported. Previously, Israeli authorities had dismissed casualty figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry as unreliable.

The United Nations has long considered Gaza’s health records accurate. However, Israel expressed skepticism, citing the ministry’s administration under Hamas as a reason for distrust.

The Gaza Health Ministry released updated figures, stating that total deaths have surpassed 71,000, including more than 480 people killed since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in October.

Most casualties in Gaza are women and children, the ministry added, with thousands buried under rubble or listed as missing.

Israeli media outlets, including Ynet, reported that senior military officials acknowledged numbers similar to those of Gaza’s health ministry, though official confirmation remains pending.

The Gaza conflict has caused widespread devastation, with infrastructure, hospitals, and schools heavily damaged. Humanitarian agencies warn of long-term impacts on health and displacement.

Distinguishing between combatants and civilians remains challenging in the densely populated Gaza Strip, complicating accurate reporting and accountability during ongoing investigations.
