Jordin Sparks Responds to Criticism Over Publicly Asking Halle Berry to Read a Script About Menopause

Jordin Sparks is responding to some criticism this week after publicly asking Halle Berry to read her screenplay about “hormones and menopause.”

The 36-year-old singer took to X/Twitter on Wednesday (January 28) to fire off a follow-up to a DM request sent to the Oscar-winning actress, 59, saying she’d be “the right person to talk to about it!”

Many users felt that Jordin‘s request should have been kept entirely in the DMs, feeling like it was rude of her to ask and essentially seemed like she was calling Halle “old.”

In short, Jordin‘s request still raised some eyebrows.

But, to be fair to the “No Air” singer, Halle is an outspoken menopausal health advocate who relaunched her wellness site Respin as a community-based platform dedicated to menopause care. Several people pointed this out.

On Thursday, the American Idol winner followed up on her post, standing by her public request.

“Always ask—even if it scares you a little! We’ve heard worse things than the word ‘no.’ It builds resilience and confidence. If you can’t take being told ‘no,’ you are going to have a tough time building character, courage and taking a shot at what you want! ‘Do or do not. There is no try.’ ✨” she said.
