Zoey Deutch to Play Real-Life Soccer Exec Marla Messing in Netflix's World Cup Movie 'The 99'ers'
Zoey Deutch will be starring in the upcoming Netflix movie The 99′ers, which tells the story of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team’s monumental win at the World Cup in 1999.
In the movie, Zoey will be playing real-life soccer exec Marla Messing.

Deadline reports that Marla was “the trailblazing U.S. Women’s soccer executive who oversaw the massively successful 1999 World Cup tournament that set attendance and TV viewership records.”
Marla herself is producing the movie for Netflix and Emily Bader from People We Meet on Vacation is set to star as soccer player Mia Hamm.
Nicole Kassell, who won an Emmy for her work on Watchmen and recently directed Sirens for Netflix, is set to direct the film.
Zoey just premiered a new movie at the Sundance Film Festival.
