Tottenham remain in talks to swap £12.5m benchwarmer for £20m West Ham player

0

A second source has now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are indeed holding discussions over signing a 25-year-old in an unusual kind of loan deal.

Tottenham Hotspur still have several important areas of the squad to address over the next week and a half, but it appears that they have now decided to explore changing their backup goalkeeper.

On Thursday, a West Ham insider revealed that Tottenham and the Hammers are holding talks over a loan swap deal, which would see two fringe players move in the opposite direction.

The proposed deal would see Antonin Kinsky moving to the London Stadium on loan for the second half of the season, while West Ham’s number two, Mads Hermansen, would move to N17 in a temporary deal.

There is truth to the proposed Tottenham-West Ham swap deal

Danish outlet Bold (as translated by Sport Witness) has now confirmed that Tottenham are indeed exploring the idea of swapping Antonin Kinsky for Hermansen.

The publication claims to have heard from sources that talks are indeed underway between the two clubs, but they say that the discussions are at a very early stage.

At the moment, the deal has not moved beyond dialogue, with the exchanges yet to progress into formal negotiations. No concrete proposal has been tabled by either club, with talks described as ‘exploratory’ rather than advanced.

Could the Danish connection at Spurs be behind Mads Hermansen interest?

We have already heard reports suggesting that Kinksy has not impressed the Tottenham staff in training this season.

It is thus not surprising that Spurs are ready to offload the 22-year-old, and they understandably want to bring another backup goalkeeper through the door if they do so.

Additionally, one would think that Johan Lange and Thomas Frank would be well-versed on Hermansen’s potential, given their expertise on Danish football. This proposed swap deal may thus not be as crazy as it initially appears.
