Kokomo Murase Is The First Women To Put Down a 1620 In A Contest

0

When an X Games sideline reporter asked Mia Brookes if she was looking to win a gold medal in every event she competed in, she was brutally honest. As long as Kokomo Murase had that 1620 in her bag, no one was taking Big Air except for her.

She was right.

Murase put down a backside 1620 in Saturday's X Games Big Air contest, and stomped it. It launched her into first place with a score of 96.66. She never relinquished that top spot.

The win is Murase's fifth X Games gold medal. She won her first in 2018 at X Games Norway, when she was just 14 years old. It was her 14th X Games medal of her career.

Murase set the internet ablaze in November 2025 when she posted a video of herself landing a backside triple cork 1620 during a training session on Austria’s Stubai Glacier. X Games marks the first time a 1620 was done in a contest in the women's field.

Australian rider Zoi Sadowski-Synnott took second place with her backside 1440. She followed that first run by going even bigger with the same trick in her second run, for a score of 94.66, which temporarily landed her in the top spot. When her second place finish was solidified, she laid down a steezy-as-hell shifty-360 in her third run.

Brookes landed a cab 1440 on her second run, which was good enough to get the third spot. It's Brookes' second medal of the X Games, as she won slopestyle gold Friday afternoon.
