House Will Vote on Pro-Life Bill to Help Pregnant Students

0

National Right to Life strongly supports the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act (H.R. 6359), which the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on this week.

“The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act is a commonsense measure that ensures pregnant and parenting students are aware of the rights, accommodations, and resources already available to them,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.

The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act would require institutions of higher education to clearly and consistently communicate information about existing rights and resources.

Importantly, the legislation does not impose new mandates or expand federal authority. Instead, it focuses on transparency and awareness—helping students make informed decisions and continue their education without discrimination.

By promoting knowledge of accommodations and support, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act affirms that no student should be forced to choose between her education and motherhood. It encourages campus environments that respect academic opportunity while upholding the dignity of pregnant and parenting students.

Tobias continued, “No student should feel pressured to abandon her education because she chooses to carry her child to term. This legislation promotes respect for both women and their unborn children, and National Right to Life strongly supports its passage.”
