Buildings on Idco land owe Rs 72cr to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation in holding tax

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation is set to collect Rs 72 crore in holding tax from buildings on Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation lands, starting fiscal year 2025-26. Educational institutions alone owe Rs 32 crore. Enforcement begins in February, aiming to boost civic body revenue after government approval allowed taxation on these previously exempt properties.
