Who Will Sing The Next James Bond Theme? 11 Artists Rumoured For The Job
They might be moving at a somewhat glacial pace, but the wheels are finally turning at James Bond HQ as fans eagerly wait for the next movie in the blockbuster spy series.
Following huge behind-the-scenes changes at the franchise in 2025, a director and screenwriter have been selected for the 26th 007 movie, with Denis Villeneuve set to helm a new film, which will be penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
All that remains now, of course, is an announcement on who will be taking on the role of James Bond himself – as well as which artist will be brought in to record the series’ next iconic theme song.
Whoever lands the gig will join an impressive hall of fame that includes Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna and, of course, Dame Shirley Bassey, while Adele, Sam Smith and Billie Eilish all won Oscars for their contributions to the last three Bond films.
But which stars are rumoured to be in contention for the enviable musical gig? Here’s a quick round-up of 11 names that could be in the frame…
Dua Lipa
We’re starting with one of the most recent rumours, with the Daily Mail reporting in December 2025 that Bond producers were hoping that if Callum Turner joins the franchise as 007, his fiancée Dua Lipa might be up for a “double act” and recording the accompanying theme song.
Dua previously tried her hand at a Bond-esque tune for the film Alita back in 2019 with her song Swansong, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe and Grammy for her Barbie cut Dance The Night.
Lana Del Rey
Ever since Lana Del Rey burst onto the mainstream music scene in the early 2010s, people have been saying her voice is the ideal pick for a James Bond film, and we’re frankly amazed that she’s still never done one.
However, last year, fans got their wish (well, sort of…) when it was spotted that Lana had registered a new song called First Light, which just happened to be the name of a new James Bond video game, leading to speculation she’d recorded a new theme song to coincide with the release.
Like Dua, Lana has also contributed to several major movie soundtracks over the course of her career, most notably Young And Beautiful for The Great Gatsby, Don’t Call Me Angel for the Charlie’s Angels and a reimagined cover of Once Upon A Dream for Disney’s live-action movie Maleficent.
Interestingly, she actually pitched to record a Bond theme in the early years of her career, and wrote the Honeymoon cut 24 as a potential addition to the Spectre soundtrack, only for bosses to go with Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall instead.
Oasis
In December 2025, The Sun reported that following the much-publicised Oasis reunion, 007 execs had their eye on the reformed Britpop group to help reboot the James Bond franchise with their own theme song.
Weeks later, Noel Gallagher made it clear that while he’d had no contact with Team Bond, he’d be more than up for writing a theme song if they were to come calling.
Unfiltered as ever, Liam Gallagher previously wrote on X: “It’s happening you wait till you hear it it’s the best Bond tune ever.”
Raye
Raye’s meteoric rise to fame in the last few years has been something to behold. After calling out her old record label, she was finally set free and went on to land her first number one with her breakthrough single Escapism, scoop a hefty six Brit Award wins in the space of one night, and, more recently, secured her second chart-topper with the earworm Where Is My Husband!.
There’s no denying that Raye’s retro sound would make her a safe pair of hands to write and record the next Bond theme, with the Express alleging in the summer of 2025 that she had emerged as a “new favourite” for the gig, based on bookies’ odds.
She also told Metro in 2024: “If they called me, you can believe I would be there in a heartbeat. I would pitch as many songs as it took to get the right one that they like. That would be an absolute dream come true.”
Sam Fender
Similarly, Sam Fender’s career has only gone from strength to strength since his Brit Award Critics’ Choice win in 2019, with his last album People Watching winning the prestigious Mercury Prize and his most recent tour consisting of sold-out stadium shows.
Fresh from his Mercury win, Rayo claimed in October 2025 that Sam had climbed to second place in the bookies’ odds to secure the next James Bond theme, behind only Raye.
Harry Styles
Currently gearing up for his own musical comeback, Harry Styles was previously linked with a potential James Bond theme in the years after No Time To Die’s release.
In September 2023, NME noted that Harry was in “the top spot” for the gig when it came to bookies’ odds.
After keeping a low profile since his mammoth Love On Tour jaunt came to an end in 2023, the former One Direction star is gearing up to release his first new music in four years in just a few short weeks, following the news his fourth album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally is coming soon.
Chappell Roan
Chappell Roan’s profile blew up in a big way in 2024, thanks to her then-new single Good Luck, Babe! and the resurgence of cuts like Hot To Go! and Pink Pony Club.
Around this time, The Sun also reported that she was being “lined up for the next Bond theme tune”, based on her becoming the bookies’ top pick for the job at that time.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus actually threw her own hat in the ring to potentially record the next hit Bond anthem during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December.
“I definitely would,” she enthused. “I actually feel like, kind of, my last album, a lot of people, when they were listening to songs like Easy Lover they would say ‘This sounds like a Bond song’.”
The former Hannah Montana star previously teamed up with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey for the aforementioned Charlie’s Angels tune Don’t Call Me Angel, and is rumoured to be in the running for an Oscar nomination for her Avatar: Fire And Ash contribution Dream As One.
Taylor Swift
No list of contemporary pop stars is quite complete without a Taylor Swift reference, is it?
In September 2024, Metro published a rumoured round-up of favourites for the James Bond theme song – based on, you guessed it!, betting odds – that had Taylor listed as “the next big name” linked with a 007 anthem.
Taylor’s past soundtrack work has included the Zayn collab I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, from the movie Fifty Shades Darker – and who could forget her original contribution to 2019’s Cats, Beautiful Ghosts?
Lewis Capaldi
In NME’s 2023 piece, Lewis Capaldi was noted as another potential contender for the gig, and the man himself has made no secret of his hopes to do just that.
Just after his profile began to really blow up, Lewis told PA: “I always say that the Bond theme is something that I think anybody would jump at the chance of, [or] at least try.”
Referring to the (at that time new!) announcement that Billie Eilish would be recording the theme for No Time To Die, he also quipped: “She’s probably going to make a lot of money from it so I’d love to take a cut of that.”
Ed Sheeran
Special mention has to go to Ed Sheeran, who – in his own words – was “within a fucking gnat’s pube” – of recording the theme song to No Time To Die, before being pipped to the post by Billie Eilish.
“They changed directors, and then they just changed scripts, and that was it. But we had done all the meetings. I had started writing it,” he lamented on Peter Crouch’s podcast.
“You’ve got to – eventually, as an English singer – want to do a Bond song. I’m not gonna pretend it didn’t hurt not doing it. If they come back, I’ll be like, ‘Yeah yeah, of course’.”
As far back as 2017, Ed claimed on Ireland’s Late, Late Show that he “actually had a theme tune written for about three years – just in case” anyone came calling…
