Bridgerton Boss Teases Which Characters Will Take Centre Stage In Seasons 5 And 6
As Bridgerton fans eagerly await season four, showrunner Jess Brownell has teased who will take centre stage in seasons five and six of the Netflix period drama.
While Jess, who took over the reins in season three, already knows the show’s future, she is remaining tight-lipped for the time being – but did hint at what was to come while speaking to reporters at the series’ Parisian premiere.
“Both characters with the initials on my pocket squares will get seasons in five in six,” Jess told Deadline premiere.
At the time, she was sporting two white pocket squares, one of which was embroidered with an “E” and the other with an “F”, suggesting that the next two instalments will revolve around Claudia Jessie’s Eloise and Hannah Dodd’s Francesca.
However, Jess added: “In what order? I can’t say.”

Jessie Claudia, who plays the fifth child of the Bridgerton family, is not revealing anything yet, either.
“I wish I could say that I have started working on [Eloise’s story],” Jessie told Deadline, joking: “That would make me seem like such a professional as well if I was starting to work on it!”

Netflix’s hugely popular series is adapted from Julia Quinn’s novels, of which Eloise’s story is the fifth in the series.
Titled To Sir Phillip, With Love, the story sees Eloise becoming caught in a whirlwind romance with the widowed Sir Phillip after he sends her a letter proposing to her, the pair having never met in person.
Book six follows Francesca after the death of her first husband, John (played in the show by Vitor Alli), after which she unexpectedly finds love with John’s cousin Michael.
However, it looks like Francesca’s story will play out slightly differently on the show, as the character of Michael was introduced as a gender-swapped Michaela (played by Masali Baduza) towards the end of season three,setting the stage for the show’s first leading queer romance.
In the lead-up to the show’s premiere, Hannah teased where Francesca and Michaela stand, telling Us Weekly: “I think that moment in the ball, she doesn’t really know what it is. I think it’s just a different feeling.”
Before viewers can follow Eloise and Francesca’s romance, season four will finally see Benedict come into the spotlight.
The upcoming series sees him meet a bewitching Lady In Silver, Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha), who he must search to uncover the identity of.
The first half of Bridgerton season for debuts on 29 January, followed by the next four episodes on 26 February.
