Govt moves to add sound to E-rickshaws and E-karts for pedestrian safety

In a fresh draft notification, the ministry of road transport and highways has added L5 and L7 vehicles to the earlier proposed list of M and N category of new vehicles which will have to be mandatorily fitted with Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) with effect from October 1, 2026 while the existing vehicles get a year more to do so.
