86-year-old Fremont woman allegedly shot dead by 93-year-old husband
FREMONT — Police responded early Friday around 12:20 a.m. to a report that a 93-year-old man had shot his 86-year-old wife on the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue.
The 911 caller told officers he had shot his spouse and wanted to turn himself in, according to the Fremont Police Department. When authorities arrived, the man was standing by his vehicle, and the victim was in the front passenger seat. “The victim presented with a physical injury and was pronounced deceased on scene,” police said. Officers also recovered a firearm inside the vehicle.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will review the case and evidence.Police said the killing is Fremont’s first reported homicide of 2026.
The suspect gave a statement to detectives about the incident. He was booked on suspicion of homicide with a gun-related enhancement.
