Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Motherhood, Divorce, & Finding Joy in Her 'Happy Era'
Jennifer Lopez shared some heartfelt advice during her Las Vegas residency.
The 56-year-old pop star was performing the second night of her Up All Night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday (December 31).

She later shared an Instagram reel of her speech from that night, which included a sweet moment with her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom Jennifer shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. The twins joined her onstage to give her a hug before she addressed the audience.
Afterward, the “Can’t Get Enough” singer revealed she’s currently in her “happy era” and wanted to leave fans with something meaningful to reflect on. She recalled a moment from years ago when a much younger Max asked her, “why don’t you ever wear pants on stage?” following one of her shows.
“And I thought, ‘Jesus Christ, what a crazy life. This is a bizarre life, right?’” she said.
Jennifer explained that she told her son it was because she’s a “showgirl” who loves to “dance.”
“It seemed like a good excuse at the time. He was 7 years old. It was fine, but the truth is, I do, I love to dance,” she continued, noting that it was after her third divorce that she truly began to improve as a dancer.
At that point, she admitted she was “ready to give up on everything” until receiving advice from a “wise woman.”
“My life was a mess. I was a single mom for the first time with two little 3-year old twins, and then one of my mentors, Louise Hay, said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?’ I said, ‘Yes, I am,’” she recalled.
Louise then asked, “When you’re learning a dance and you get the steps wrong, what do you do?” to which Jennifer replied, “I just keep going until I get the steps right.”
Her mentor told her that was the lesson: “Always keep dancing.”
“I wish the same for you. No matter what life throws at you that you dance, and you dance and you dance. Again and again and again. I love you,” Jennifer told the crowd.
