Trail Re-Route Work at Henry Hagg Lake

0

A closed section of the Hagg Lake Loop Trail continues to send trail users onto pavement. On December 20, five NWTA volunteers came out to help change that by pushing forward work on the Loop Trail re-route and setting the stage for future tread construction.

The crew began at the north end of the re-route and worked south, clearing vegetation, removing downed trees, and preparing the corridor for future tread construction. This phase of work is an important step in setting up the alignment sothe new trail can be built efficiently and sustainably.

Highlights From the Hagg Lake Dig Day

One highlight from the day was reconnecting with a volunteer who last worked at Hagg Lake 15 years ago. Moments like this reflect the long-term community connection behind trail stewardship and the shared investment people have in these trails over time.

Why the Hagg Lake Loop Trail Re-Route Matters

This re-route is especially important because a segment of the Loop Trail remains closed due to a bridge uprooting. As mentioned above, until the re-route is completed, trail users are directed onto an adjacent paved road. Once finished later this spring, the new trail will return users to a natural trail experience and improve overall trail quality.

NWTA Sponsor Support and Community Involvement

A big thank you goes out to Work Sharp for sponsoring the dig day and donating raffle prizes for volunteers. Their support helped recognize the effort volunteers continue to give to trail stewardship.
