The Mighty Ducks actor Shaun Weiss and Shipwreck Barbershop owner Jacob “Jake” Harris have provided updates on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Tylor Chase, who has been living unhoused on the streets of Riverside, Calif.

Tylor was recently released from rehab after a 36-hour medical hold, but Shaun admitted that they’re “having a really hard time” figuring what to the next steps are.

Tylor has to want to go to treatment. All the resources are available to him and it’s very frustrating because there’s no system in place to help people like this,” he shared.

According to Shaun, they contacted a mental health crisis team to do an evaluation on Tylor and they took him in an ambulance for a few days. He called it a “Baker Act situation,” referring to the Florida law that allows for involuntary mental health examination.

However, Shaun said they released him in the middle of the night. Jake found him again and called for a second evaluation, but the team allegedly didn’t pick Tylor up again.

Both Shaun and Jake asked for people to give Tylor some space in their updates, with Shaun saying that it’s “not helpful” when people go meet up with him to take selfies for Instagram or give him money.

“Long story short, when Tylor‘s using he’s not receptive,” he said.

Still, Shaun added that Jake has made it his life’s mission to assist Tylor and keep an eye on him.

In his own update video, Jake clarified that they had gotten Tylor “clean, detoxed, physically clean” during his “36-hour medical hold,” and even flew out a professional rehabilitation coach from Boston who was prepared to speak with Tylor and his family.

But Tylor “was not, at the time, willing to accept help from the rehabilitation coach, although he was very receptive toward the information.”

“So we were able to call another crisis team. They came out and evaluated him. Since he was of sound mind, cleaned up and not in immediate danger, they weren’t able to take him,” Jake added.

He asked the city of Riverside to assist and not let Tylor “slip through the cracks” if he returns.

In a statement shared with People, the Riverside Police Department responded: “The Riverside Police Department’s Public Safety Engagement Team (PSET) is comprised of officers specially trained to work with individuals experiencing homelessness. The team operates in close coordination with the City of Riverside’s Homeless Outreach services and the Riverside County Department of Behavioral Health.”

It continued, “During their contacts, PSET officers consistently offer available services and resources aimed at connecting individuals with substance abuse treatment, mental health care, and other supportive services. Tylor has been offered these services but has declined assistance thus far. He has remained cordial and cooperative during his interactions with officers.”

Devon Werkheiser of Ned’s Declassified fame previously spoke out about Tylor‘s ongoing situation.
