Boat carrying migrants capsizes in Croatia, killing at least 3 people
Croatian authorities say at least three migrants died and eight were injured when their boat capsized on the Sava river early on Thursday. The accident happened in eastern Croatia as migrants were apparently trying to cross from Bosnia. Croatian rescuers said they received a call around 5:30 a.m.. that a boat had overturned and people were in the river seeking help. Police say a Bosnian man is suspected of smuggling migrants. People fleeing violence or poverty in the Middle East, Asia or Africa often face perils as they try to reach Western Europe with the help of people smugglers who guide them over the borders illegally.
