Chennai weather: IMD issues orange alert as heavy rains strike Tamil Nadu — Will schools remain shut today?

The system, which is expected to move west-northwestwards in the next 24 hours, has already triggered thunderstorms in parts of the capital and intensified rainfall across southern Tamil Nadu. IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rain in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and multiple delta districts through Monday.
