Staffer held at knifepoint at Sen. Harmon's Oak Park office
A staffer for Illinois Senate President Don Harmon was held at knifepoint during a break-in at the senator's Oak Park office Friday evening.
The man entered the office at 6941 W. North Ave. and confronted a female employee with a knife, according to a statement from Harmon's spokesperson.
She was unharmed, and the man was arrested for armed robbery. The incident did not appear to be politically motivated, according to the statement.
“I want to thank the Oak Park Police Department for a quick response, and I want to thank my staff for their bravery and unwavering commitment to public service," Harmon said in the statement.
