Nico Harrison Haters Will Love This Depressing Mavericks Statistic

The Dallas Mavericks are in a bad place right now. Dallas has lost three straight games and now has a 2-6 record to start the season (entering Thursday). While the Mavericks have been missing Kyrie Irving (who won’t be returning until later in the season), they’ve also been without Anthony Davis for the last three games. Rookie sensation Cooper Flagg is doing everything he can to keep things afloat, but that’s a lot to ask of an 18-year-old.

Amazingly, the Mavs might be even worse than their record indicates. According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, Dallas has the worst offensive rating in the NBA, and the worst rating since the 2020-21 Oklahoma City Thunder (who were tanking).

The Mavs entered the season expecting to suffer a bit from Kyrie’s absence, but their miraculous draft fortunes — landing them Flagg — had fans expecting a winning product.

That wasn’t an outlandish expectation, either. Dallas’ roster without Kyrie is still very solid, especially in the frontcourt. Davis going down changes that dynamic, of course, and if AD misses significant time this season on top of Kyrie, things might get pretty rough for the Mavs.

After a loss to the awful New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, an exhausted Flagg told reporters that he isn’t used to losing.

Indeed, Flagg went 115-8 as a high school and college basketball player.

The Mavericks are going to have to figure stuff out soon. The Western Conference is way too good to have multiple bad months and still survive. This start is shocking. Some people had the Mavs as their sleeper Finals team.

Of course, all of this is making Mavs GM Nico Harrison look even worse (if that’s even possible), especially with Luka Dončić absolutely dominating right now for the 7-2 Lakers.

It’s looking more and more like Harrison traded a generational superstar in his prime (Luka) for an aging, injury-prone superstar in Davis. It says a lot that Dallas landed Flagg out of sheer luck, but fans are still infuriated with Harrison.

A failed season for the Mavs will have more and more people wondering why Harrison still has a job.
