Wildcats upset No. 14 Jayhawks in a five-set thriller

LAWRENCE (KSNT) - The 131st volleyball Sunflower Showdown went down inside Allen Fieldhouse tonight, as the Kansas State Wildcats upset the No. 14 Jayhawks for the first time since 2020. The 'Cats won this in five sets, 14-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-23, and 15-8.

The Wildcats would come from behind to take the fourth and fifth set in a thriller. In the final set, the 'Cats would go on a 6-1 scoring run to help them surge pass the 'Hawks 15-8.

This win marks K-State volleyball head coach first win against Kansas.

Aniya Clinton led the 'Cats with 16 kills, and 20 points on night. Senior Shaylee Myers was right behind her with 15 kills, 16 digs, and 16 points.

"I'm just really proud of them, they made plays," Mansfield said. "It was a great environment tonight and it was special to be a part of it."

The Wildcats end their two game losing streak and snap the Jayhawks five game win streak tonight.

Up for next for the 'Hawks is a match against Cincinnati on Oct. 30. The 'Cats will head to Salt Lake City next to for its match against Utah on Oct. 29.
