'The Sims Mobile' To Shut Down in January - But There's Still Many Planned Event Updates Before That!
We’ve got some sad news for The Sims Mobile players. Electronic Arts (EA) will officially be shutting down the app in January 2026.
The company shared the news in a blog post published earlier this week. However, the good news is that events will continue as normal in the final months, meaning players can keep earning Simoleons and items until the game is shut down on January 20.

EA will also add a few more updates to the game before then, including the “Eerie Autumn” Festival Pass and the “Cozier Home” Sweet Treat Showdown, which launched on October 20 and will run until December 19 and November 2, respectively. Additional updates will include more limited time quests, Sweet Treat Showdowns, and Treasure Hunts until January 10.
Unfortunately, only people who already have The Sims Mobile downloaded or pre-installed will be able to play it, as the game has already been delisted from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
“First, we want to say thank you. The Sims Mobile and The Sims community as a whole are full of creativity, kindness, and imagination. You’ve amazed us with your stories, builds, and Sims. We’re proud to have shared this journey with you, and as a token of our appreciation, we’ve prepared a few surprises as we head into TSM’s final chapter,” the game team wrote at the start of their post.
It’s also worth noting one other fun addition coming ahead of the shutdown. Starting on January 6: “All Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will unlock for every player. These won’t be limited by levels, so that means EVERYTHING Build mode and CAS are available.”
“We want to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything TSM has to offer before the servers close. We would love to see what you create if you would like to share it with us.”
The game shuts down at 9:59 am ET on January 20, 2026.
Despite The Sims Mobile coming to an end, EA is still working on more content for The Sims franchise, with The Sims 4 still receiving updates and an online multiplayer game in the works.
Margot Robbie is also developing a live-action The Sims movie!
