One of One: Make the Range Rover Sport Your Own With New SV Bespoke Service

0

On Oxford road in the pastoral English hills of Warwickshire, a few minutes from Range Rover’s headquarters in Coventry, you will find the home of SV Bespoke. Inside is a state-of-the- art facility where beautiful old-world craftsmanship meets modern technical innovation. It’s from these spotless white workshops and the hands of the craftspeople who work within, pursuing perfection every day, that the most exclusive and exquisite Range Rovers are born.

Think of SV Bespoke as an atelier making automotive dreams come true for the brand’s most loyal and discerning clients. Until now, SV Bespoke’s service was only available on the full-size Range Rover, but beginning later this year, the high‑performance Range Rover Sport will, for the first time, be available through Range Rover’s in‑house commissioning program.

“Since we introduced SV Bespoke for Range Rover, we have seen a surge in demand for our personalization service; our clients are increasingly looking for crafted details and true distinction,” explains Martin Limpert, the global managing director of Range Rover. “Now is the right time to extend this offer to Range Rover Sport clients, following the introduction of our renewed Range Rover Sport SV lineup,” he adds.

The rise in popularity mirrors the resurgence of interest in things like real bespoke tailoring, slow fashion, and handmade wooden boats. At a time when the word “luxury” has been overused to the point of meaninglessness, it’s no wonder deep-pocketed consumers are increasingly drawn not to mass-market luxury goods (no matter the brand or price), but instead to things that have some soul, some art, some sense of time, place, and craft.

Range Rover doesn’t really advertise its one-off commissioning service. You won’t find it mentioned prominently on the brand’s website, let alone splashed across billboards. SV Bespoke is the absolute pinnacle of the brand’s lineup. It’s the last and final velvet rope, Range Rover’s inner sanctum. It’s more like a private club than a car company, an “if you know, you know” sort of thing.

If you’re a discerning client of the brand, your local Range Rover dealer might let you in on the not-quite-secret of SV Bespoke services. In that case, you’ll be invited to one of the commissioning suites, currently in London, Antwerp, Munich, Vancouver, Beijing, Tokyo, and Dubai, with five more locations to come soon.

Alternatively, there are some à la carte SV Bespoke options available on the Range Rover Sport’s online configurator, but those only just scratch the surface of what the craftspeople at Oxford Road can do.

The SV Bespoke Palette offers 230 exterior colours in gloss, matte, or satin finishes, or if that’s not enough, clients can instead select a one-off “match‑to‑sample” paint. Gloss colours are topped by a new glass-like finish, which uses a thicker top‑coat lacquer plus custom flatting and polishing for a surface that looks as deep as the ocean. Further personalizations include the Exposed Carbon Bonnet, unique seat embroidery, tread plates, rare wood veneers, exhaust finishers, new wheels, and — our favourite — two-piece, hand-forged, precious metal script badging.

If you were at Range Rover House Whistler earlier this year, you would’ve seen Gaea; it is one of five exclusively crafted Range Rover Sport SV Bespoke curations that make up the Celestial Collection. These were all created by SV Bespoke as a kind of showcase for what they can do with the high-performance Range Rover Sport.

However, the first Range Rover Sport created through SV Bespoke’s “One of One” service is the Nocturne, which made its debut earlier this year at Range Rover House Mykonos before being handed over for private sale. Inspired by the skies above the Mediterranean, it features a hand-polished, mirror-like Indigo Gloss paint finish, Lunar and Ebony leather seats with 3-D knit headrests, and acres of marble-like forged carbon fibre. There are more exquisite details that we can list here, but the images speak for themselves.

One of One builds like this can take around nine months to complete, as the designers work hand in hand with clients to make something that is truly theirs. Why does it take so long? Testing and perfecting a new paint colour takes time, as does getting the embroidery just right, and bringing in hides and veneer from top-tier suppliers. For another thing, the artisans at Oxford Road can only work so fast. Handmade craftsmanship takes time. As a result, only a handful of clients get to enjoy the full One of One SV Bespoke service each year.

There’s never been a better time to pull the trigger on a Range Rover Sport. Not only is this the benchmark high-performance SUV — a modern legend in its own right — still at the very top of its game, there’s also more ways than ever to make the Range Rover Sport your own, thanks to the team at SV Bespoke. We’re already imagining our own build, but the possibilities are infinite, so please excuse us, we’ve got some daydreaming to do.
