Schenectady County seeks volunteers for auxiliary police unit
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady County is looking for volunteers to join the Schenectady County Auxiliary Police unit. It's a team of peace officers that support local law enforcement during public events and emergencies.
Volunteers receive training and are overseen by the county's Office of Emergency Management. They assist with crowd and traffic management, patrolling public spaces, and helping with crime prevention at parades, festivals, and other community gatherings.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a valid New York State driver's license, be in good physical condition, and undergo a background check.
