Prep football roundup: Novato rallies in second half to beat Terra Linda
Gio Castaing scored a touchdown in the final two minutes to help the Novato High football team secure a 28-19 road win against Terra Linda on Saturday.
Novato (3-3, 2-1 Redwood Empire Mountain), which trailed 13-0 in the second quarter, was protecting a 22-19 lead when Castaing made it a two-score game. Novato lineman Robert DeLeon came up with a big stop on TL’s final drive of the game.
Novato grabbed a 14-13 lead on its first possession of the third quarter. Terra Linda (0-6, 0-2) immediately responded with a long touchdown to go back in front 19-13.
CJ Castro gave the Hornets the lead for good with a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown to make the score 22-19 in the third quarter. Quarterback Trevor Cleary’s screen pass to Castaing accounted for the final margin.

Quarterback Colby Buxton accounted for eight total touchdowns as the Bulls hammered the Knights on Saturday. Buxton threw five touchdown passes, ran for two more scores, and caught a touchdown for good measure to lead the Bulls’ onslaught.
Three of Buxton’s scoring passes went to receiver Treyvor Matthews. The Bulls jumped out to a 24-0 led at the end of the first quarter and held a 38-0 advantage at the half.
Tomales 42, Round Valley 28
Cole Furlong and Ivan Gonzalez both eclipsed 100 yards on the ground to lead the Braves (6-1, 3-0 North Central League III) to victory on Friday afternoon. Furlong, a freshman, carried the ball 15 times for 116 yards. Gonzalez, a junior, had 20 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Tomales is back in action next Friday for perhaps its most important game of the season, a home game against South Fork (4-1, 2-0).
