Leonardo DiCaprio Reportedly Was Pushed To End His 'Under-25 Rule' by a Family Member

Leonardo DiCaprio might be changing his dating strategy after all, but it sounds like he was inspired by a member of his family to make some adjustments.

It’s well known that the 50-year-old actor has enjoyed a reputation as a ladies’ man — and those women are often under the age of 25. It’s what fans have described as his “under-25 rule,” even though he’s never confirmed such a theory. Still, girlfriends like Gigi Hadid, and currently Vittoria Ceretti have managed to stick around at least until the age of 27.

Now, an insider for The Sun is revealing that DiCaprio’s mom, Irmelin Indenbirken, was the one who instigated the change. “Vittoria’s quite different to the other girls he’s been with. She was harder to impress; she’s very Italian and has high expectations,” the insider claimed. “Immediately she struck up a strong bond with his mother, plus she is very in demand — she’s the one with the full diary and jet-set life, not just following him around.”

DiCaprio, who has been dating Ceretti since 2023, caught some heat last year from the Daily Mail about his love for age-gap romances. “Everyone in town jokes about ‘Leo’s Law’ because whenever you see him, he looks older, but the women on his arm look exactly the same,” an anonymous producer revealed to the media outlet. “They’re usually blonde, always great-looking, and half his age. My Tupperware is older than some of his girlfriends!”

There were even engagement rumors about the One Battle After Another star and the supermodel, but a Page Six source downplayed the story in November 2024. This is nothing more than an Internet rumor,” they said. At the time, an In Touch Weekly source said there was nothing that could change DiCaprio’s mind about settling down.

“Leo’s friends and family stopped trying to influence him many years ago,” they noted. “This noncommittal lifestyle and hedonistic approach is all part of who he is, and he makes zero apology or excuse for it.”

But the tide might be turning with a little influence from mom. Indenbirken likes Ceretti, so the 27-year-old model might stick around longer than the others.
