Diane Keaten loved animals, especially dogs.

In fact, Keaton's final Instagram post was dedicated to her beloved golden retriever, Reggie, which she posted on National Pet Day. The post came exactly six months before a rep confirmed that the Oscar-winning actress had died. She was 79.

The Instagram post was in partnership with the decor brand Hudson Grace, which carried a Diane Keaton dog collection line.

"Proof our pets have great taste too! Happy National Pet Day from HG & @diane_keaton ????????," the post read.

In the photo, Keaton looked extremely giddy, pointing to a bag of treats as Reggie looked on.

As news of her shocking death spread across the globe, fans appeared to check her final Instagram post and started leaving tributes in the comments section.

"I just sat down to watch The First Wive's Club for the millionth time when across my screen flashes, 'Diane Keaton gone at 79.' THANK YOU for the best movies. Fly high Ms. Keeaton. ❤️????," one fan commented.

Another added, "A true legend. Thank you for your talent, your animal advocacy, your immeasurable charm. You will be missed. ????️."

Keaton's Hudson Grace Dog Collection

Keaton announced the partnership on Aug. 26, 2024, with a post showing her alongside Reggie. The post also came on National Dog Day.

"Our new pet collection is all inspired by @diane_keaton’s beloved dog, Reggie! From dog beds to Reggie’s favorite 'KEATON' treats, find everything to treat your furry friends in-stores," the post read.

Diane Keaton's Cause of Death

At this point the cause of death is not known.

A rep confirmed to People that the legendary actress died in California on Oct. 11.

"There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness," the rep told the outlet.

Keaton, of course, shot to fame following her role in The Godfather films. She won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1977 for her role in Annie Hall.
