A year after a bloody uprising, Bangladesh is far from political stability

0
Bangladesh is marking one year of the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Aug. 5 amid hopes and desperation for a better democracy. An interim government headed by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus is running the country with pledges to hold a new election next year. But poor law and order situation has made people worried while bickering political parties have been at loggerheads over election time and other reforms agenda. Hasina is facing charges of crimes against humanity for the deaths of hundreds of people during last year's movement that forced her to flee the country. Many of the protesters who took part in the movement are now frustrated. Critics say the country's politics has further been fragmented over the last one year.
