Taye Diggs Says His & Idina Menzel's Son 'Can't Stand Music Theater'

It doesn’t sound like Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel‘s son will be following in their Broadway footsteps!

If you forgot, the 54-year-old All American actor and the 54-year-old Wicked actress married in 2003 after starring in the 1996 Broadway production of Rent. They split in 2013 and their divorce was finalized two years later. They share 15-year-old son Walker.

While appearing on Live With Kelly & Mark on Thursday (July 31) to promote his new role in Moulin Rouge! on Broadway, Taye admitted that Walker “can’t stand” musical theater.

“Oh, yes, but he doesn’t use it. He’s a basketball player, so he uses it on the court,” Taye answered. “The only time he goes to the theater is when his mother, Idina Menzel, or I are on stage. Other than that, he can’t stand music theater!”

When guest co-host Carson Kressley asked if Walker “came to see” his dad in Moulin Rouge!, Taye said, “He did, and he said he dug it!”

In an interview from 2023, Idina looked back at her marriage to Taye and opened up about the challenges of being in a interracial relationship.
