Serena Williams Has to Literally ‘Carry’ Her Doubles Partner in Adorable New Photo With Daughter Adira
Finding a doubles partner in tennis isn’t easy. The person has to be fairly equally matched and work well with you, anticipating moves, volleying back and forth, and generally holding down their side of the court. We can only imagine how much more difficult it would be to find a partner if you were the Serena Williams, 23-time Grand Slam champion! But despite the challenge in finding someone excellent enough to be a contender, you wouldn’t expect that she would have to literally carry her doubles partner. It’s alright, though — because her partner was none other than her adorable 23-month-old daughter Adira!
The WYN Beauty founder shared the cutest new picture with her youngest daughter, who she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian. The toddler is already a mini professional!
“I never thought I would have to carry my doubles partner ????????,” Williams quipped in the caption, adding that you can subscribe “to watch an epic video of me practicing with @adiraohanian.” She also warned other parents, “⚠️caution, don’t try this at home!” If you aren’t an Olympic gold-medalist tennis player, you probably aren’t qualified to hit tennis balls with a baby in your arms.
Her husband, supportive as always, commented, “Told you this would do numbers!” about the post that has over 27,000 likes. Williams’ ex-coach Rennae Stubbs joked, “You carried me plenty of times ????”
Someone else pointed out, “Well carried her in utero when you won the Aussie open, she expects nothing less now she is out ????????????”
Williams, who also shares daughter Olympia, 7, with Ohanian, has been bringing her girls to the court with her since they were born. In one sweet video, Williams chased after her daughter on a tennis court, joking in the caption, “When’s too early?”
In a previous interview with Byrdie, Williams shared how she wants her daughters to view her career one day. “I want my daughters to look at my career and learn that being authentic to themselves is really the most important thing,” she said. “You don’t have to be the best as long as you do your best. I also hope my daughters see how many different passions I have — from tennis to beauty — and learn that they can lead dynamic careers and lives across their many interests.”
With a mom like Williams in their corner, these girls will truly be able to do anything!
