Cam Ward Receives Historically Low 'Madden NFL 26' Rating
The overall ratings for rookies were released by Madden NFL 26 on Wednesday and Tennessee Titans quarterback and the No. 1 overall selection from this year's draft, Cam Ward, did not fare too well as compared to other No. 1 overall picks over the years.
According to the game's official website, Ward scored an overall rating of 72, which falls well short of the top-10 rookie ratings in the game.
The rating is also historically low for a No. 1 overall pick. According to The Sporting News' Dan Treacy, Ward's rating is the lowest for a top pick since Michael Vick received a 72 back in 2001.
However, Ward did score the highest-overall rating among rookie signal-callers, surpassing the New York Giants' Jaxson Dart and the New Orleans Saints' Tyler Shough, both of whom tied for second with a 68.

Ward is set to take the reins of the Titans' starting quarterback job after the team struck out with former second-round pick and quarterback Will Levis, who had a disastrous sophomore campaign in 2024.
Ward enjoyed a productive career in college, throwing for 11,281 yards, rushing for 406 yards and scoring 104 total touchdowns (87 passing).
In 2024, Ward had his best college season en route to becoming the No. 1 overall pick, completing 67.2% of his passes for 4,313 yards and 39 scores to seven picks while rushing for 204 yards and another four touchdowns.
Madden NFL 26 will see its full release on Aug. 14, but those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition can play the game seven days early.
