Amusement Park's New Roller Coaster Might Actually Be Cursed After Latest Malfunction

0

It has been a rough first month for the new Siren's Curse roller coaster at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio.

The 160-foot ride, which debuted to the public on June 28 and had an issue that same day, has left riders stranded at least five different times after its latest malfunction on Saturday.

According to video shared on social media, riders were once again stuck as the ride malfunctioned on July 26, and that forced the occupants to exit the ride and walk down the stairs that run next to the track.

This latest malfunction is the fifth reported one in the span of a month since the ride opened and comes after the fourth issue on July 22.

Siren's Curse is the tallest, longest and fastest tilt roller coaster in North America, according to Cedar Point's official website.

It reaches a top speed of 58 mph and features a tilt function that sets riders up in a 90-degree vertical position. The first malfunction of the attraction left riders stranded in that position for less than 10 minutes.

On July 2, riders were once again forced to exit the ride after it got stuck. The third malfunction left passengers stuck in a "45-degree angle for about 20 minutes" on July 19, a report said.

The most recent issue before Saturday's occurred less than one week ago, when the coaster got stuck mid-ride, forcing yet another evacuation.

Maybe it shouldn't be surprising to see a roller coaster with "curse" in its name having so many problems. Cedar Point might want to close the coaster down for a bit to get things under control.

According to ABC 27 in 2023, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions noted that the chances of suffering a serious injury on an amusement park ride is 1 in 15.5 million.
