World Naked Bike Ride to roll through Portland Saturday night

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thousands of cyclists are expected to bare some - or all - as the World Naked Bike Ride rolls through Northeast Portland Saturday night.

Although the full route has not been announced, this year’s ride is set to begin at Grant Park, where the naked cyclists will meet in protest of emissions caused by gas powered engines.

Riders will begin gathering at 6:30 p.m. ahead of the rollout at 8:30 p.m. Before the ride, there will be a fundraiser at Level Beer to cover ride expenses including posters, port-a-potties and permits. The event is run completely by volunteers. 

Those who can’t make the fundraiser but still wish to donate can do so online at the WNBR website.

For decades, Portlanders have joined the annual World Naked Bike Ride, but the event was canceled last year due to a lack of volunteers. The last Naked Bike Ride through the streets of Portland took place in September 2024.

The nonprofit group Umbrella has taken over managing the event, promising “fresh faces” in its “all-volunteer leadership crew this year, with veteran organizers holding advisory roles.”

This will be the 21st year for the Portland World Naked Bike Ride.
