Shubman Gill close to create History: Needs 25 runs in Manchester Test to break THIS 19-year old record
Indian side is all set to take England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. This clash is going to begin July 23 (Wednesday). This is a do-or-die match for the visitors, especially since they lost the Lord’s Test and are trailing the series 1-2.
If India loses this upcoming clash, the team will lose the series with a match remaining. Captain Shubman Gill will aim to play his best knock. Gill has been in great form with the bat, while missing out to score on only one match.
Shubman Gill has scored 607 runs till now in the series averaging at 101 and the highest score of 269. Now, he is close to achieve a massive milestone and secure a great feat to his name. If Gill manages to score 25 runs in the upcoming match, he will overtake Pakistan great Mohammad Yousuf and become the Asian batter with the most runs in a bilateral Test series in England. Yousuf scored 631 runs against England on their grounds back in 2006.
If Shubman Gill scored 146 runs in the Manchester Test, he will have 753 runs in the series, making him the batter with most score in a single Test series between India and England. The record is currently held by Graham Gooch, who scored 752 runs in 1990.
If Shubman Gill scored 107 runs, he can also become the Indian batter with the most runs against England in a Test series. Yashasvi Jaiswal currently holds the top spot with 712 runs- which he scored in 2024.
