Once took all 10 wickets in an innings: Star pacer added to Indian squad as cover for Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh
Anshul Kamboj has been added to the Indian squad in England as a cover for Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, as both of them are racing against time in order to be fit for the fourth Test against England- set to be held at Old Trafford from July 23.
Akash Deep is dealing with a groin niggle, and played in the second and third Test against England at Birmingham and Lord’s respectively. On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh is yet to make his debut in red-ball format.
There is no clarity on the availability of Akash Deep, and on the other hand Arshdeep Singh is likely going to be unavailable for selection because of his bowling hand being injured. Therefore, the selectors decided to call Anshul Kamboj.
24-year-old Anshul Kamboj is a strong addition to the squad following his impressive effort for India A against England Lions in the two matches that were held before this Test series began. He took five wickets in four innings while finding bounce at times.
Anshul Kamboj earned himself a strong name after he took all 10 wickets in an innings against Kerala last year in a Ranji Trophy match. He ended the last edition of the domestic tournament with a total of 34 wickets.
