Williamson Co. added to Presidential Disaster Declaration after July 5 flood
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Williamson County Office of Emergency Management said on social media Friday that Gov. Greg Abbott announced Williamson County was added to the updated Presidential Disaster Declaration after the July 5 flood.
“Residents can now apply for FEMA disaster assistance online at Disaster Assistance website, or by calling 800-621-3362.”
In another social media post, the emergency management said the Williamson County Commissioners Court “approved the extension of its local state of disaster for an additional 60 days during a special meeting on Friday, July 11.”
Additionally, commissioners approved up to $200,000 in landfill vouchers that will assist with flood clean-up.
The vouchers are "valued up to $500 each," according to a news release from Williamson County. The vouchers are designated for the following, as provided by the county below:
- 56 houses identified as destroyed or having sustained major damage
- 10 vouchers for the City of Liberty Hill
- 2 vouchers for Hope House in Liberty Hill
“The extension of our disaster declaration and the approval of cleanup vouchers are essential steps in helping our residents recover from this devastating flood,” Judge Steve Snell said in the release. “We are committed to doing everything we can to support the families and communities impacted, and we will continue working with local, state and federal partners to provide the assistance they need.”
