Mposa 6-1 Red Buffalo
MPOPOMA Sports Academy (Mposa) secured a thrilling 6-1 win over Red Buffalo Academy at Bulawayo Chiefs Village on Thursday.

It was a re-arranged Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League match which initially was supposed to be played in April. With the Young Mighty Warriors (Under-20) and Under-17s both in camp for different international commitments, it could not be played.

The match kicked off at noon.
Red Buffalo will stay over in Bulawayo till Saturday when they will play against former Purline Trophy winners Highlanders Royals at the same venue.

The team showed great potency scoring in front of goal netting five in the first half.
Red Buffalo managed to tighten their defence in the second half in which they showed the halftime prep talk had been the right tonic for an improved performance.

They were able to restrict Mposa to a goal in the second half and also find a consolation goal.
Thando Sibanda scored the first goal in the 12th minute, Patience Ndlovu scored two consecutive goals in the 15th minute and in 22nd minute, Melody Mukucha added a fourth in the 30th minute, Mufaro Maphosa made it five nil seven minutes from the break.

Kimberly Maseko, the team captain scored the last goal in the 58th minute after Christine Chitumba had pulled one back for Red Buffalo in the 50th minute.

It was Mposa‘s second win within a week after beating Conduit Soccer Academy 2-0 at Wadzanayi Stadium at the weekend.

The Mpopoma side moved from 11th with 14 points to eighth with 17.
Red Buffalo coach, Robert Mayerese said they had a better second half after correcting their mistakes which had resulted in them conceding one goal.

“It was a good game, our first half was not good, we conceded five goals but we managed to correct our mistakes in the second, where we conceded one goal and scored, it is a learning experience for our girls,” said Mayerese.

He remained optimistic that despite not winning any game in 13 outings, they would soon get it right.
Meanwhile at Imbizo Stadium in Kwekwe, FC Platinum Royals beat Kwekwe United Queens 3-0 on Wednesday.
