General Motors recalls over 60K Chevy trucks due to brake pressure issue

General Motors on Friday announced they are recalling over 62,000 Chevy trucks due to an issue with brake pressure that can cause fires, according to a memo sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The impacted vehicles include the 2019 to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado models in 4500 HD, 5500 HD and 6500 HD.

"The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit," General Motors said.

The memo also acknowledged that an electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.

General Motors said Chevy dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harnesses on customers' trucks free of charge.

Owners are also recommended to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete
