Senate Democrats are forcing a vote to restrain Trump on Iran but GOP support is doubtful

Democrats are aiming to pass a resolution in the Senate that would curb President Donald Trump's ability to further escalate in Iran without first seeking congressional approval. Democrats are hoping at least some Republicans join them in backing the measure. It remains in doubt with many Republicans having backed then the president's decision to strike Iran's nuclear sites last weekend. Republicans have said Iran poised an imminent threat that required decisive action. Democrats have cast doubt on that after classified briefings with top White House officials took place on Capitol Hill this week.
