Trader Joe’s Breaks Silence on Surprising Store Location Decision

Trader Joe's has just under 600 locations across the United States and has provided customers with a variety of options. 

Recently, Trader Joe's opened a new store in Sherman Oaks, which is in Southern California. 

However, oddly enough, there is another store right across the street in Sherman Oaks. 

The decision left fans confused and wondering why the company would open a brand new store across the street from another one. 

The new store at 14140 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks opened on June 6, and the other location is at 14119 Riverside Drive.

Trader Joe's spokesperson Nakia Rohde spoke about the decision, per Karen Palmer of SF Gate. 

“We’ve had a great relationship with our customers in Sherman Oaks for 52 years, and we plan to keep both stores open. Both stores offer the same great products and delightful customer experience, but each has a different layout and parking lot," Nakia Rohde said. 

Still, there are some differences between the stores. The new location has underground parking as well as a larger flower section with a bigger frozen foods section. 

The new store has more lighting and fun artwork, so it has already made for a more distinctive shopping experience compared to the old location. 

Even with other companies closing stores left and right, that doesn't appear to be the case for Trader Joe's, which is planning to open more stores this year.
