Man, 34, Killed in Horrific Farming Accident This Week

A 34-year-old Minnesota man tragically lost his life earlier this week in a shocking farming accident.

Joshua Moechnig Jr. was reportedly working on a tire in rural Lake City, Minnesota Tuesday when it exploded, according to a press release from the Wabash County Sheriff's Office. Police and emergency personnel were summoned to the scene, where Moechnig Jr. was pronounced dead.

His father, Joshua Moechnig Sr., sustained unspecified facial injuries and was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

"Our sympathies go out to the Moeching family," the WCSO news release added.

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money to support the Moechnig family. Joshua leaves behind a wife, Heather, and four children, including a one-month-old.

“Josh was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, friend, and hardworking farmer,” the GoFundMe description reads. “Josh was more than a provider. He was a man of deep faith, integrity, and love.

“He and Heather built a life rooted in faith, family, and farming. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the lives of many, but his legacy of love and strength lives on in his children and all who knew him.”

So far, the fundraising campaign has taken in nearly $110,000 towards its $140,000 goal.
